Time Standards are used to place swimmers in terms of how fast they swim. US Swimming Motivational Times are classified into five groups: B, BB, A, AA, AAA, and AAAA, a.k.a. AB Times, also differentiated by pool sizes: SCY, SCM, and LCM. But National Championships, Zone meets, and other swimming meets have their Time Standards (i.e., qualifying times or time cuts), which are not using AB Times.
USA Swimming National Age Group Motivational Times are designed to encourage age group swimmers to reach certain time standards as they age up. Time standards range from B, BB, A, AA, AAA, and AAAA in all age groups: 10 & under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18. The most current one was released on Oct 1st, 2020 for 2021-2024.
USA Swimming National Single Age Motivational Times are designed to encourage 18 and under swimmers to reach certain time standards as they age up. Time standards range from B, BB, A, AA, AAA, and AAAA in single age from 10 to 18. The most current one was released on Oct 1st, 2020 for 2021-2024.
