Things to know
The 2024 Long Course Senior Zone Championships will be held at Erie Community College Burt Flickinger Center, 21 Oak Street, Buffalo, NY 14203 from August 1-4, 2024.
Times achieved in sanctioned, approved or observed competition since January 1, 2023
Entries must be received by 11:59 PM on July 22, 2024.
The meet will follow USA Swimming rules, including the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP).
Spectators will be allowed, and the meet will be live-streamed on STAR Swimming’s YouTube channel.
The meet is open to any registered Eastern Zone USA Swimming athlete with a qualifying time achieved in USA Swimming sanctioned, approved, or observed competition from January 1, 2023, through the entry deadline.
All swimmers, coaches, and officials must be current 2024 members of USA Swimming. No deck registration is permitted.
Swimmers may enter any number of events in which they have qualified but may not compete in more than three (3) individual events per day, and a total of seven (7) for the meet.
Event Rules
All events, except the 1500 and 800 Freestyle and relay events, will have preliminary and D, C, B, and A (Bonus, Consolation, and Championship) final heats.
The 1500 and 800 Freestyle and all relay events require positive check-in. Swimmers/Teams must check in with the Clerk of Course by the scratch deadline to be seeded.
Relays are timed final events with the fastest two heats swimming in finals.
Distance events are timed finals with the fastest heat swum in finals; all other heats will be swum as indicated in the meet info.
Bonus Rules
Swimmers making one (1) qualifying time can enter three (3) bonus events.
Swimmers making two (2) qualifying times can enter two (2) bonus events.
Swimmers making three (3) qualifying times can enter one (1) bonus event.
Swimmers making four (4) or more qualifying times cannot enter bonus events.
There are no bonus swims for the 800 Freestyle or the 1500 Freestyle, except if a swimmer achieves a qualifying time in one of these events, they may enter the other as a bonus entry.
Awards
Top 16 finishers will score points. Individual events: A Final 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11, B Final 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Relay events: 40-34-32-30-28-26-24-22-18-14-12-10-8-6-4-2.
The top 3 teams in Women’s and Men’s Scoring, and the first place Combined Team will receive awards.
Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for both individual and relay events.
